Syrup of ipecac

Syrup of ipecac, commonly referred to as ipecac, is derived from the dried rhizome and roots of the ipecacuanha. It is typically used to induce vomiting, which it accomplishes by irritating the lining of the stomach and by stimulating part of the brain called the medullary chemoreceptor trigger zone.
