Jesse Louis Jackson, Jr. is a former American politician who represented Illinois's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 until his resignation in 2012. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Jackson first gained office in a special election in 1995. His district included part of Chicago's southeast suburbs known as the Southland and part of the South Side.
