Dari or Dari Persian is a name given to the New Persian language at a very early date and widely attested in Arabic and Persian texts since the 10th century. Farsi-Dari, can be classified linguistically as a continuation of Middle Persian, the official religious and literary language of Sassanian Iran, itself a continuation of Old Persian, the language of the Achaemenids.
