CORONA

Corona

A corona is a type of plasma that surrounds the Sun and other celestial bodies, including the earth. The Sun's corona extends millions of kilometres into space and is most easily seen during a total solar eclipse, though it is also observable in a coronagraph. The word "corona" itself derived from the Latin, meaning crown, which in turn came from the Ancient Greek κορώνη meaning "garland" or "wreath".
